Birthday thoughts . . . Or, a Blog About “Nothing”

 In Blog, Life Lessons

imageIt’s February 28 – my birthday, or at least the day that I celebrate it when it’s not a leap year. 🙂 You would think that with it being at my birthday, I would have lots to write about or share . . . a plethora of ideas and inspirations, topics to choose from, for a blog subject today.

Yet, that is not the case at all. I mentioned in an earlier post this week that I have been moving in and out of a bit of a funk the last couple of months or so, and today has not really been an exception to that. It’s not to say that I haven’t had joyful moments. I went and treated myself to a haircut and color, spent time on the phone with friends and family, and met a beloved soul sister for dinner at one of my favorite restaurants. These were all fun and definitely wonderful experiences; I just haven’t been in the most “celebratory” of moods, on the whole.

As such, I have been racking my brain all day for what to blog about. Then I thought about my original intention for this 90 day blogging journey: To get myself in the practice of writing daily, so that when it is time to write my story, writing is second nature, joyful, fun, and comes to me with ease. It was then that I realized – sometimes it is not so much about what to write about, but more the idea that I write, period. Suddenly the pressure from within lessened, and I was able to blog with ease. 🙂

So I invite you to consider this if you are developing a habit or practice, and are faced with “sticky” moments. Bring yourself back to your original intention, and that is usually from where the clarity and ease will come.
